Dan McCann has a G-3. It's not a jet, but he might have some advise.

They took over the Ranger Cherokee aluminum series years ago. They were top notch boats. -Eric

I have no experience with jet boats but G3 offers a pretty good value for the price. I was flirting with the idea of purchasing the 1860 CCJ or CCT this year and everything I read in my research was positive, but I'm sticking with my boat another year. One thing I noticed about their jon boats is the hull thickness was less than the more popular river boats, which may or may not be an issue. I made a couple trips to Mercer Marine in Hamilton, NJ last year and they always had 1 or 2 G3 jons equipped with a jet available. Another positive about G3 is you can price shop due to having about 5 dealers in NJ and eastern PA. But if I was looking to purchase a new river boat I would consider one of those River Pro's, they look like sweet rigs.

If your willing to spend 20k, I would take a look at the sea arks. It is a much beefier boat the aluminum is thicker 1/8" as opposed to 1/10" and the bottom is double thick. I did alot of research before I purchased my hull. I was looking at the G3's, rough necks, trackers, crestliners etc... but decided for the extra money this boat was worth it. I ended spendind a little more as I chose to go with the Yamaha 115/80 instead of a merc. If you would like, i would be more than willing to take you out and show you.

I've owned a center console for the past 5 years and find it very comfortable when fishing alone. However, when our family of 6 (4 kids, wife, & myself) get up on plane, handling can sometimes be a little tricky as balance is easily compromised . Same thing goes for fishing if another person is riding in the boat and doesn't feel comfortable sitting right next to me close to the center line. I've never owned a tilller motor driven boat but all the ones I have driven in also required all weight distribution toward the center line for maximum performane. Add to this the other prevailing handling issues of a jet drive OB and overall handling just became a little more challenging. I may downsize in the next year or two and have been looking at both G3 and Alumacraft side consoles. Both are nice boats with a positive reputation. Alumacraft has a little heavier hull material thickness and G3 affords a good bang for the buck with the collateral benefit of a Yamaha power package.

I have a G3 1860 CCJ deluxe with a Yamaha 115/80 and a 8hp. Yamaha high thrust for a kicker. I primarily fish the Susquehanna and I absolutely love this boat. I can now get to where I couldn't get to before in skinny water situations. It has .100 gauge metal as does most that I looked at. you could get by with the 90/65 jet, for the river the tunnel design works very well for me I have been in 3-4 inches of water with this boat with two people and had no trouble. I purchased mine at Lakeside Marine near Harrisburg, Pa. and they were wonderful to deal with !

I just purchased a 2008 Alumacraft 2072 mv sc with a 90hp Yamaha and love it. I looked at most manufactures and liked the inside depth of the Alumacraft over others, and that I wanted a Yamaha. I Bought it from a dealer in Maryland, they are not close but they have the right prices and were great to deal with.

I have never heard a bad word about G3 boats, it really comes down to what you want.
