This is a little late, but i haven't had the time to get on here with my work schedule. Figured I would post some pics from the stocking of the susky in my backyard as well as Francis Slocum. Great experience, and would definitely do it again. Making a aerator tank was simple and in total ran me about $35. It also doubles as a great bait holding tank for short periods of time.

loaded down and ready to go. I was surprised at how well the boat got up with all of the weight over the nose. hooray for 2 stroke 3.0Ls haha.

All in all we stocked 2000 fish. 1500 in the Susky and 500 in Francis Slocum. we had roughly 20-25 casualties in all, which i think is pretty damn good. Hopefully i'll get to tangle with a few of these guys in 4-5 years. ;D

Thanks all! It was great to be able to hopefully improve a fishery right in my back yard. Anyone have a ballpark on mortality rate for these little guys? I did see one get hit by a smallie when stocking... :-[

Not sure if it's scientific in any way but I've heard estimates of a 10% survival rate to maturity for the fry. It may seem low but 200 nice tigers in your local waters sounds pretty good 8)

We stocked all pures mike. But that doesn't sound too far off unfortunately.... I would imagine that a larger stock of fish, say 10-12" would fair much better but is probably much more expensive. I think that dan, who was the Pfc officer said they averaged 6.5".

First I would like to echo the appreciation for your help with the stocking effort. As for their future, anyones guess. Pures had a rough time this year in all of the hatcheries while the Tigers did very well. I would expect the same in the wild. It will be interesting to see what the State stocking plan will be for next year. I also expect our relashionship with area biologist to begin to grow and who knows where we can go from there.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and helping stock the wonderfull susky! I'd agree with the 10 percent rate as an average survival rate, but it depends on the body of water. For the susky..with it's great musky habitat...it's probably much higher.
