Silvia,

I read through it yesterday and was disappointed to see that Beltzville was taken off the stocking list.  Some of the northern lakes were also removed and it is rather surprising that none have responded well to past stockings.

I was hoping to see some information concerning the State stocking larger muskies but, unless I missed it, there was no discussion of holding fish until they are 10-14 inches before releasing them.  Anyway, I appreciate your posting this.

Thanks for posting, Silvia.

Was hoping to hear some news about a size increase, which New Jersey is proposing for 2018-19 code. They are suggesting 40" across the state and 44" in state-defined "Trophy Musky Waters" (Greenwood, Monksville, Hopatcong, and Echo)

I like this Archie.  We need to start pushing for 44" in MC, Nock and a few western PA lakes as well.   How do we get that started?

NJ is heading in the right direction.  Thanks for posting this.  Maybe it helps in our future with respect to size limits.

and additionally the North Branch which will no longer be stocked, but monitored for natural reproduction....

I'd really like to see size limits increased in PA.  Some more reading materials.  PA Code, I've concluded is no fun to dig around in.  PA General Assembly, General information on Fish and Boat Comm.  PA Bulletin & PA Code Chapter 65, 65.16 (Musky Enhancement), of interest.  Guess the question is how to get the Enhancement Part on some water enacted.  Anyone know what the process would be?

PA General Assembly: (General Information)

Rules & Regulations: Title 30,  2102

PA Bulletin:  How we got to 40" & the paragraph where the commission adopted 65.16 Musky Enhancement 45"

If we could get the other muskie inc chapters that are in Pennsylvania all on the same page for increasing size limits, wouldnt it be simple to get a proposal ready for the fish Commssion requesting 44 or 45 inch for established trophy muskie lakes. Im sure they cant deny marsh creek! And nockamixon is on its way. Along with other rivers. Sending a letter or email, would it be that easy?

It's a good idea Clint, but with governments, nothing is easy. Even if it should be. It also is always better to ask for more than what you think you'll get. A common sense reg change, would be C & R or 50 inch minimum for the water they are taking off the stocking list due to nat. repro. But good luck trying to push that.

If you're going to stop supplementing the population, and advertise the water, you should give it more protection.

Amen to this.
