Just saying hi. I am the NOOB here. I heard about your site from another fishing webpage. There has been quite alot of talk about muskie fishing and has sparked my interest. The majority of my fishing is for bass, both in the salt and in the sweetwater. Im knida concerned though, I dont think the wife will appreciate another hobby. Musky tackle is limited, I will be starting out using the striper tackle that is currently employed for surf fishing. I am going to assume that the bigger the bait the bigger the fish. I have quite a few plugs that should get me started. Hopefully I will be back soon with some pictures... 😀

I agree with Archie, we have to be nuts to do this stuff.
One thing more is to make sure that you have a strong enough leader that the fish cannot bite through. Wire or heavy flouro is best.
Come to a meeting...learn a lot
Good luck!

We may only see what we look for.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was out on the Lehigh this past saturday and had my first follow. WOW! Big fish! Now I know why you guys target this species. It was a bit spooky how she just appeared behind my plug. I had her follow for a good 15-20' then she rolled and was gone. Im no expert at sizing muskies, but i have seen my share of large fish in the water ;). I can rasonably say she was well over 36", probably in the 40" range. I kinda froze when I saw her give chase. Freaked me out a bit. I will be up on the Susky this Friday and plan on bringing the big rod again. Neat stuff...
