No CPR Muskies were entered from NJ for the April Musky CPR Contest,I can't believe no one from NJ caught & released a musky in April.Anyway the May CPR Contest is now on,good luck to all muskie fishermen in NJ.

Dave C. , I'm sorry but you had to have your muskie entered by midnight on April 30th for the April CPR Contest.Over on the http://www.mostlymuskies.com/reports.htm web site where the posting for the contest is,states midnight of April 30th.The CPR Rules are very loose as it is,but can not leave the door open for someone to come up with a bigger muskie then posted in any state in the contest, after the last day and seeing the last size on the board.By no way am I saying you caught your muskie after April deadline, just saying the reason why I can't take your entree now, because I would then have to take anyone elses muskie for entree in other states that seen the CPR Contest after the deadline for entree was over. Were now into the May CPR Contest and all muskies entered must be entered with the picture posted by midnight May 31st,2009.The Nets for the Winners of the April CPR Contest from Ohio & Pa were shipped Monday morning by the sponcer. If your Chapter has not had their May Meeting yet, please inform membership of the May CPR Contest so those not reading this messageboard in a time have a chance to enter.

Thanks, Capt. Larry D. Jones

No problem, Larry. It certainly makes sense and is fair to all. It's a cool thing that you are doing.

Here are some rule updates..

The May Musky Catch & Release Contest for Ohio,PA,NJ, & WV will be for St.Croix Legend Tournament "Big Dawg" 8'-6" Rods, value $340 each. That is One(1) Rod for the Biggest Musky Caught & Released in each state.Picture must be posted here and must list what body of water the fish came from,if body of water is in two states you must list what state you caught it from when you put up the picture, not later! To keep the contest honest one of the following options to varify the date and legnth of your entered muskie,(1)If fishing in a Muskies Inc. or other tournament a copy of your Release Form with wittness signature, showing date, legnth and body of water/state where caught & released. and picture of the muskie posted on this message board thread page(2) If not fishing in a Tournament you will need the days date somewhere in the picture and wittness varification of legnth and body of water/state and picture of the muskie posted on this message board thread page.(3) If your fishing by yourself you will need a picture of the fish in the water with a floating measuring stick ,cradle with measurement or bump board with measurement and the date/state somewhere in the picture and the picture posted on this message board thread page. Also those that are Winners will be asked to have a picture taken of theirself holding the Legend Tournament Rod they won in this tournament and either send it to me via email or post it on this board,it is very important to show sponcers the product in the winners hands. Many Thanks to St.Croix Rod Co. and Wiley Lure Co. for making this possible! I updated the rules out of concerns from other fishermen about how there was next to no verification in the April contest and that this months contest had to many open ends.

So the rules are changed? It's more than halfway through the month and the fish that were caught were not documented in the manner described. The photo has a file date stamp right? Is that good enough? I think that any of the fish that were caught prior to this date are pretty much out of it since no one knew that you had to have a picture with a ruler. Bummer.....

This rule changes were from Capt. Larry D. Jones. It is a bummer that they were changed half way through the month. Maybe he can explain why...

I do have a pic of my fish but not with a tape measure. So I can't enter my 40" released Tiger? I do have a witness, Jeremy Kern. Would that be the largest from PA so far? No big deal, just asking since I missed out on the "calcutta" :'(. I do have a Bull Dog rod now anyway from the KOTM.

Thanks

Sorry to say mike there are going to be at least a one or two 50s from the western part of the state that pretty much eliminates us from contending we have better chances early and later in the season or fish NJ. youll have to at least catch a 48"-55" to win

??? Whada ya mean. That 40" fish won't win ;D ;D ;D 😀

Matt, I realized that's a small fish. I looked at the site and see some big ones from April in the 49'/50" zone. The 40" fish was a MI Release Form fish and I had a witness. I was more trying to determine if it could be entered or not without a tape measure.

Thanks

Mike,

It looks like you can as long as you have the release form, which you do...

If fishing in a Muskies Inc. or other tournament a copy of your Release Form with wittness signature, showing date, legnth and body of water/state where caught & released. and picture of the muskie posted on this message board thread page

Mike I didnt mean to make it seem like your fish was small a 40 inch tiger is nice no matter where you catch it just stating that this contest will be a western Pa contest we just dont have large numbers of big fish here in the eastern Pa

It was a good turnout, but pretty tough fishing. 63 people for the Three Rivers Andy Luchovic Memorial Tourney. 7 Fish caught. Tom Simon took 1st place with a Pyma Pig...51X26". We witnessed the fish for Tom. What a fish! Congrats Tom. 2nd Place was John Birchbeigler with a 40". Dad and I got a 38" and a 39". My 39" was good for 3rd place. Other fish were 38, 36, 31. Between the 50" pot money and 1st plac, I think Tom went home with about $2k.

If your 40" tiger muskie would have been caught in NJ Waters, picture and release form was all you would have needed to win.But being from PA Waters it would have to be over 51" to win.The contest is now over and I got no entrees from NJ or WV at all.
The contest rules were changed because at the end of the April CPR Contest 11 fishermen tried to enter fish after the contest was already closed. Some were sending in as many as 4 different pictures each an inch longer then the first trying to stay ahead of the biggest fish, some of those pictures had leaves on trees and others had no leaves. There were complaints of fish being entered to win in the last hour.I guess I'm learning when you try to do something nice for people, there are always a few who try to ruin it for everyone else.I'm sorry if the rule changes upset some, but the contest was just to open ended and to be fair to all I had to make the changes.

Larry, I got a few good ones in May but could not comply with the rules as it's tough to date stamp a picture when you are trying to release a fish. My camera stamps the file but not the pic. Also measuring it next to a ruler is impossible for me....you're either going to see the head or the tail but not both. Sorry that I cannot partake in your contests. Honestly it's a great thing that you are doing but the cheaters have made it really hard to comply with the rules.

Chris D caught this beauty on 6/14. We didn't measure it but he may have taken big fish of the day honors at the Kid's Derby at "Little Nock" Pond.

- Overcast day with some sun
- About 70 degrees
- No luck with the crowds so we bush wacked
- Presentation Site Fishing using a bobber with worm
- 5'6" Spinning Combo with 8 lb test

I cropped the image to protect the spot. 😉

Hope you understand. ;D
