Anyone interested in a Club Outing for New Year's Day on Mercer Lake? Let's say from 6:00 - 3:00, and then a few cold ones and some tasty grub afterwards! I'm sure Dan "Mercer" McCann, could help with possible locations. Jeremy, you IN? Come on you Musky Hunters, let's get that first Hunt in for 2009!

OK...Who's In ???

Just fyi..they close that ramp once there is skim ice on the lake and won't let you launch a boat. Not a fun 1-1/2hr ride back for nothing... I know from experience. Make sure to call the rangers before you go.

It happened to me already there. There was very little ice on the lake and I had to turn around and go home. It's only 25 minutes from my house but it still sucked. That water freezes fast too. Very small lakes tend to freeze fast IMHO.

George I'm fishing for sure. But the only waters I'm fishing are going to be rivers.

Why do you think rivers instead of lakes? Skim Ice, water temps, ...?

Well the lakes can be frozen that time of year..Rivers take longer to freeze. And for me I have no luck on lakes once the temps drop into the low 40's/high 30's..

I believe the fish in the river feed more often since they have current to deal with... that is my 2 cents!!..

Let's hit the rivers on January 1 2009, start off the new year right....Muskies! A club outing on an eastern PA river would be awesome! ...it would be great to meet up with other MI 50 folks for a day of musky fishing!

I might be game....I may have a slot on my boat as well. Depending on where we go. I'd be willing to talk about it.
