Dr Austin will be leaving his office by the end of the year , I think this is a great loss I truly believe since Dr austin has been in office starting in 2004 there has been some great positive changes in all of Pa's fishing , especielly Muskies. He will be greatly missed .
We can only hope that the new executive director is as enthusiastic as Dr Austin is .

Matt,

I have never had any dealings with Dr. Austin but if, as you maintain, he has been a positive force in the overall fish program, and more specifically the muskie program, then I agree it is a great loss. So many, that attain appointments, are there for the paycheck or how good it will look on their resume`. When you get someone that is truly focussed on doing their best for the resource, it is a shame to lose them.
Thanks for the heads up and best of luck to Dr. Austin.

This is a shame. It seemed like they drove him out. Hopefully nothing will change with the muskie program.

This was definitely a political move. Dr. Austen's methods were a little to cutting edge for the stuffed shirts and political hacks on the commission.
