PFBC proposal Has a comment period starting april 5th till may 5th .The last line of this proposal if passed would mean you would need a trout/salmon stamp to fish on open year round trout waters. even though you were fishing for muskies or bass etc...
That is the most ridiculous proposal I have ever seen . I would need a trout stamp so I could fish on a lake even though I dont fish for trout.
We have to vote against this lame ass proposal , Thank you Mike Kaufmann & Archie for the heads up on this.
Two local lake you would need a trout stamp Kaercher and Tuskarora Holman lake, Francis slocum.

There was a big write up in the mourning call sports section about the decline in licenses being purchased in pa.and how they don't think by 2012 at the rate of decline in license they'll have enough money to stock streams with trout. So may be this has something to do with it.I acually thought it was always like this that's why I always get a trout stamp even though I don't fish for tham ethier. To me its bull shit more money wasted on.

Yeah, I was under the same impression. Last year I told the guy at Walmart that I didn't want the stamp because of no longer fishing for trout. He said it didn't matter. If you fish stocked or trout approved waters you need the stamp. Ridiculous. >:( It just shows that many people just don't care to stand shoulder to shoulder for some puny trout, in a creek that's about to dry up. Like Lehigh said, they're loosing money and need to get it any way possible. On another hand stocking those trout in muskie approved waters does put food in their bellies. Still it needs to be voted against. I'm with you Matt. Later on Jeremy

You know what, this pretty much sucks! The fact that I have to buy a Trout Stamp, basically just to subsidize those lame excuses for a fish, they call "Trout", when I'm not even fishing for them, really bites!
My freakin baits are bigger then those Rainbow Twerps! I hope this lights a fire under everyone's ass, to write to Dr Austin. Take the time, and express your feelings. Like you said Worm, if anything else, some nice bait for our buddies <<<<><<< <<<<><<< <<<<><<< <<<<><<<

If they want our money I'd rather see them create a "trophy" stamp that includes Muskies so we can see some money put towards our industry. The state is using the proverbial tuna net to catch not only the tuna and the dolphin but everything else!! Add the out of state fees paid for a nonresident angler and were approaching a "C" note. :'(

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Matt,
The response I made was through that website, under comments, etc., however, it did say to respond within 30 days after publication of the Pennsylvania Bulletin. I assumed, that if you were posting this, that it was already published. I responded under the section for reactions, and the hyperlink was fishandboat.com. If I vented in error, then I stand corrected,, my mistake!

I agree with Joe.But what i would rather see is a muskie stamp. You cant keep a muskie unless you have a stamp.Only problem is that it wouldn't raise there funds that much. Most muskie guys wouldn't buy it because they wouldn't keep a fish anyhow.Other fisherman wouldn't buy it because "i never catch muskies".Forget i mentioned it.Bob

Matt,

Thanks for the heads-up on this proposal. I posted it yesterday and hopefully enough guys will see it to spread the word. We have a serious trout population on a 7 mile section from Warren to the breast of Kinzua Dam that is a trophy management area. It will affect us tremendously if it passes.

Thanks and good fishing!!

Personally, I kinda like the musky stamp idea (I think). I agree that most would not need to purchase one to be legal during fishing outings BUT what a great way to make a "monetary donation" with the guarantee of your dollars going to help raise more PA muskies.

I would dish out 10, 20, 50 bucks a year for a musky stamp. If nothing else, it could help nullify "the excuse" of not having enough monies to raise/stock anymore muskies due to a decrease in license sales.......... plus it could keep MUSKY money out of the general fund.

Does this make sense or am I being short sighted???

Hey make sure that someone "bumps" this thread on April 5 so that we don't forget to record our opinions!

Red,i agree with what you are saying "but".I would rather put that money into a ch 50 program{or ch 16},like the future minnow fund that would help the state feed hold over muskies. That way we know the money is going towards the muskie program. The one plus that cant be denied is,if dont have a stamp, you cant keep a muskie. And i have just talked myself into being 100% for the muskie stamp at any cost.Bob

I sent my comments in (never too early to be early) and got the following response:

Mr. Surkin,

Thanks for your comments. We do plan to address this upon final
rulemaking. This was an oversight on our part.

I guess we should be ok after all.
