I have a similiar story, just with a different ending. I was trolling Greenwood with my dad and my nephew.I had a three Rods spread .One was my 210.00 casting rod with a 6500 reel.We were 100 yards away from the dock and ready to end our day.Thats when i herd a loud bang, and when i looked down the front part of my rod was hanging by the line going to my reel. Just as i reached for the handle,BANG,gone. Puke, jump in,yell at my nephew.I didnt know what to do just at that moment.I speculated that my lure snaged the bottom, the clicker was broken and did not sound{i have a few reels like that},and the line got to the end of the reel before....Well,you know.We Tried to dredge it up casting deep divers with no luck.I decided then my high priced casting rods would not be used for trolling any more. Its never happend again.Four trolling rods purchased and all still with me.Bob

{{0} Archie forgot to mention that this all occurred in the first fifteen minutes we launched onto Echo Lake. Add the fact we also got snagged on the hump with all 3 trolling rods down after 5 minutes on the water, our day was shaping up to be real lousy. We should have been paid a 50" Leecher but getting my rod and reel back was enough of a gift. Classic Archie moment with the deer in the head lights look of "what are you talking about... yes I'm sure I turned over the guard on that POS rod holder" (thank the Musky lords, well at least shimano for starters for putting a heavier cork tush on the rod). No harm no foul as they say and yes I now own 3 down-east rod holders.... <<<<><<<

It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.
