Warner muskie baits (by BigFish)

I snapped one of these on two weeks ago at one of my HIGH confidence spots. It was the 7 inch minnow bait in blk back, silver sides. I'm a minnow bait guy. I love twitching minnow baits, and this one twitches real nice.

The bait has a different body style than most minnow baits I've used.
It is shapped the same when you look at it from the side, but its twice as wide as other minnow baits. I think this gives it a slower, wider wobble.
It also runs deeper, 3 to 5 foot down, and the nice thing is it stays deep even at nice slow retreives. It doesn't want to float right back to the surface real quick. Thats GOOD when the waters COLD. Slow and in their face, an easy, close meal. This bait fills that job for me.

I worked this lure through the eddy's that were ice free, "fishing behind Rivermuskies!", and drew the attention of a upper 30 inch tiger who realized something fishy was going on when my plug reached the bank and she turned and swam off.

If the muskie likes the bait! Then I like the bait!

The hooks look stong and sharp, and the bait looks good and solid! Only time and wear will tell how good the paint and eyes will last but it seems pretty good. This baits gonna get some lunge this season!

Nice job Steve!

Bigfish.

Ditto steve.I got a 49" on his 6" bait last summer. It seemed to have the same slow wobble bigfish is talking about only it runs deeper and has a shad style body. This fish hammered it and the bait came back in great condition. There is a banner on our sight here for steve if your interested.I'v got at least 200 lures and this bait is as nice as any of them.I just got in a couple of 8" shallow baits and if work lets up i know were i'll be.Please bigfish??????

I want to second the comment by Bob about Steve's paint patterns. I just received my order,  right after the Pittsburg frenzy no less, and the lures look great. I can't wait to get them wet. I have a ton of musky baits and am confident to say that Warner crankbaits look to be one of the best crankbaits on the market in terms of quality and value. Check them out!!

These baits look great! I'm just getting ready to order a couple. Any suggestions on color/pattern for Marsh Creek? I know there are tons of perch and crappies in there. What about the muddy Delaware tribs on the Jersey side? Is shad the way to go?

Thanks guys,Archie glad to see you managed to stay out of the dog house,I would hate to get a fellow muskie hunter in trouble with their better half 😉 As far Marsh creek, you could'nt go wrong with the 6"deep shad in perch, firetiger, silver shinerw/black back.Had luck with tigers in other small lakes on this bait.

There's another thing about Steve's baits that hasn't been mentioned: I have a deep minnow and a deep shad and they both troll nicely.  I think the shad spins out around 7mph and I don't think I've ever spun out the minnow.

Thats great to know Chris.I'm a big troller and its hard to find baits that will troll 7mph or faster. When you get back in this area look me up and maybe we can get out fishing together.Bob Jones

Hi,

These look like really nice baits!  I am interested in ordering a few.  Please let me know how I can get some?  I am particularly interested in the shallow runners for twitching.  Is there a web site at all?

PS: Would it be possible to sell these through my store at Gander Mountain?  Thanks!

Steve,

I see no one else has had the nerve to inquire as to why you're getting out of the lure building business, so I'll be the nosey one. Why are you getting out of the lure building business Steve? Good luck in your future persuits.

DL,
I'm not totally getting out of the lure buisness,I still have to keep my own tackle box full.As for selling to the public,I tried that for 18 months now and there is very little interest for my baits out there.I tried to offer a quality built bait at a fair price, but people wouldn't buy them.President Jones went as far as trying to get my bait out on the saltwater market as a striper bait,Two months after a editoral appeared in a magazine I got no inquiries about my baits.I even tried the wholesale/retail thing last summer in a musky shop in western pa.That didn't work either as the retailer made more profit than I did and I made the bait.

Hey Steve,

Well, I was fortunate to have won one of your baits at one of our first meetings, but have subsequently lost it to the depths of Nockamixon. So if you would like to make a few bucks on the side from time to time I would love to have a few more of them. As I won't make it to our August meeting I'll miss out on the chance to get one of those that you're sending with Bob.
Its a shame that, in our capitalist society, a quality product has to lose shelf space to other lesser products.
