Anyone make their own spinnerbaits or bucktails? I am looking for your opinions on a good wire forming tool. Is there a tool that does it all (big stuff and smaller ) Would appreciate any suggestions. Just getting started.

Jesse,
You can buy spinnerbaits already poured and painted, just add the skirt, beads, blades, clevis and a trailer hook if needed. You can also buy 12" .051 wire shafts to make bucktails that already have a loop on one end,all you got to do is slide your clevis/blade on first, add your body parts, add your pretied bucktail on coil wire, then using pliers bend a loop and add your hook.Look for these components at staminas, jannsnetcraft and mooreslures.Any questions PM me I'll be glad to answer any questions.

Catch and Release works for everyone, keeping a fish works for just one!

Jesse,

I have never made a spinner bait so don't have any experience with them. I have made my own leaders and use this tool I bought off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/WORTH-LURE.....dZViewItem . It is very cheap but works perfect for making leaders. Don't know if it will work with the thicker wire.. Might want to start off with buying the pre-made ones like Steve suggested.

Here are some website that sell wire benders and also all the other components you need to make any lure you want:

http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/

Hope this starts you in the right direction

Thanks,
Sebastian

I have the Knipex round nose pliers and it works fine for bending .051 wire, I have not tried it on smaller wire but it should do the job.
